Merisa & Charles

Merisa and Charles had nice afternoon wedding ceremony under this canopy of trees at Honokohau Harbor Park. Shooting from and in the shade is a luxury that I don't usually have. The afternoon sun was bright, but the trees helped to block it all out, and only through small openings in the tree tops, light rays would beam through I loved it! The reception at the Yacht club highlighted the night, with lots of food, hula performances, including a beautiful solo dance by the Bride dedicated to the Groom as he watched on. Going through the photos I could tell that Merisa and Charles although both are very shy, they are also a VERY loving couple!

Kim & Craig

Kim & Craig planned their wedding on Halloween day, why not? Nobody gets married on Halloween, which explains why every minister, photographer, planner, musician, whatever... would be available on that day.  We all know that simple is always better.  The wedding location ended up being at a newly renovated private home on Alii Drive... very nice.  Claire and I were off to cover another wedding. On another note, nothing to do with the wedding I never realized how many homeless people live on the beaches of Alii Drive, it's shocking

Leilani & Nathan

Nathan called me up looking for a wedding photographer, and that he and his wife were on a limited budget for photography, I decided to give them a break and help them out. Anyone that wants a photographer shouldn't have to decide they don't need to have one becuase they cannot afford to pay $500.00 for an hour!! I personally hate that side of most professional photographers. Anyone that had passed up Nate, and Leilani's wedding didn't have a chance to see and photograph the hands down best wedding reception of 2010!!!! It was like watching "The Gathering of The Kings" but better! Dim dramatic mixed lighting throughout the reception area was really a challenge, but made this wedding very original!! By the end of the night I had run out of batteries for my flash units, and we were still photographing well beyond our scheduled time, because the reception was so busy we didn't have time to to get away and take some photos of the bride and groom alone but at the very end I was able to get one strobist shot in, before my batteries wouldn't power my flash at all... this was a test shot as I was setting up my lighting you can tell by the framing but that's all she wrote

Diane & Scott

As a favor for my sister I had helped out her friend with some photos. Diane & Scott were scheduled to get married in the near future. Insisting on an early shoot to avoid harsh lighting on numerous ocassions, their schedule wouldn't have it. Bright blue skys at Kiholo Bay.

Amber & Keoni

Amber & Keoni, have both been busy making preperations for their wedding in December, working, and along with taking care of their one year old son finding the time to do things is always a task in itself.  Amber had asked my wife about doing some last second engagment photos, and as busy as I am, we were able to squeeze something out of the early AM hours, here's what happened.

Sammi & Jack

Sammi & Jack were already married, however because of their busy lives they've never had the chance to go on a honeymoon. When Sammi told me they were coming to Hawaii, and wanted to schedule a portrait session, I was more then happy to be their photographer.  Both, Sammi and Jack were easy, and fun to work which made the entire session relaxing, I had a great time taking their photos.

Lenses used: Sigma EX DG HSM 50mm F1.4, Nikon AFS 10-24mm F3.5, processed using Nikon CNX2 & PSCS3.  2nd time using CTR301P's decided to try it and see how they work, no miss fires in daylight, well as far as I know.

Strobist:  2 SB600's on my custom Dual light stand, camera right.  F7.1, 1/60 sec, ISO 100 @ 1/4 power bare

Pauahi & Scot

I was lucky enough to have been apart of Pauahi & Scot's wedding day here in Kailua Kona, it turned out to be a very exciting day not just for the Bride & Groom but for myself as a photographer, so many exciting things to photograph! Not to mention the 18+ wedding party that took a litte time to set up but I think things turned out pretty good.

Lenses Used: Nikon AFS 24-70mm f2.8, Nikon AFS 50mm f1.4

Brenden

Brenden La'akea Okuna, was born on April 14th 2010 @ 8:08am, this lightweight weighed in at 6lbs. 14oz. and is skilled in the art of Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, well according to my wife it's what he was doing to the interior of his home for the past 9 months.  He was delivered by Dr. Michelle Shimizu @ the North Hawaii Community Hospital. A lot of people talk about the care from this hospital, and let me tell you they are right, everyone here at this hospital is so helpful and kind.  Our son had a case of jaundice, and so we had to stay at the hospital and have our son on light therapy and during that time everyone who worked in the birthing unit was great! The quality of care is A++

New Cards!

I finally got some business cards made!! People would always ask me for cards, and I'd always have to say that I'd give them my email, or website address after the event, or tell them that I just dont have business cards right now.  That was then and this is now folks!  I honestly couldn't afford anything fancy so decided to stick with the basics, and I think they came out pretty good. Also, I've decided to eventually move my blog over to wordpress and get a real high quality photography blog going since I've been having so much problems displaying images here on blogger! In the mean time I'm giving the blogger site a small face lift, so if things look a little off you'll know why.
